APPLY TO THE 2023 SCRANTON FRINGE FESTIVAL

Scranton Fringe is an award-winning arts organization producing innovative work since 2015. Fringe is dedicated to creating a bold, engaging platform for thought-provoking art while striving to promote Northeast Pennsylvania as a viable creative environment. Inspired by the world’s largest annual event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, our organization has grown into an incubator of unique creative work centered around the performing arts.

Scranton Fringe is now accepting applications for proposed works of theater / performing arts and other types of creative projects from independent artists and cultural groups from across Northeast Pennsylvania and beyond for the 2023 Festival (September 28th – October 8th). Applications are currently live and will close June 6th, 2023.

We want bold work for brave audiences – ANY and all creative works should apply for consideration. Theater, music, comedy, dance, film, performance art, and much more is welcome at the Scranton Fringe Festival! 

We are looking for: creative projects that engage a wide range of community, new takes on old works; newly created theater pieces; quirky, unusual, vibrant, and creative theater; online/virtual works of the performing arts, cabaret; dance; comedy: puppetry; magic; musicals; immersive theater; circus; solo shows, children’s programming, Site-Specific performances, public art installations, creative workshops, and any other type of public creative programming.

The specific nature of each partnership for those who are invited to join the 2023 Scranton Fringe Festival will vary in regards to venue, technical support, scheduling, finances and more. Each artist/group offered a space within the 2023 Scranton Fringe Festival will (virtually) meet with Festival leadership and have an active role in crafting the details of their respective contracts.

PLEASE NOTE FOR FILM MAKERS: Our film festival within the Fringe Festival is “Taking Up Space”, which is dedicated to works that are created and told by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Persons of Color) filmmakers. The purpose of Taking Up Space is to lift the voices of historically excluded racial and ethnic narratives.
